Music and Science
Science and Music is a three-year, pre-university double-concentration program in which students earn two CEGEP diplomas: one in Music and one in Science. In each of the six semesters, students take courses from the General Education component, from the Music program and from the Science program.
The Double DECs are designed for students who:
- want to pursue their music studies but wish to broaden their knowledge and experience in another field
- know they want to pursue one field at university but want to continue studying a broad range of subjects
- are not yet sure which area to pursue at university but want to keep their options open by completing two diplomas.
Our Music and Double DEC programs are unique in Quebec thanks to our partnership with the prestigious Schulich School of Music of McGill University.
WHY CHOOSE MUSIC AND SCIENCE AT MARIANOPOLIS?
Students who wish to pursue the sciences and maintain and develop their expertise in music, should choose the Science and Music Double DEC. This program keeps your options open at university, especially if you are not sure yet what area you wish to pursue after CEGEP.
Certificates
You can also participate in a certificate in Environmental Studies, Gender and Sex/uality Studies, International Studies, Law and Social Justice, Native Studies or Third World Studies.
WHERE DOES IT LEAD?
The double concentration in Science and Music prepares you for further studies in Music or Science programs at university, including Medicine. You can choose to follow any of the Arts-based programs at university as well.
For more information on the special features of the Marianopolis Music Program, including its facilities, instruments, auditions and prerequisites, please visit the MUSIC information page. For further information on the second concentration, please refer to the SCIENCE page.
