Arts, Literature and Communication
You love movies, reading, art history, theatre and languages. But did you know that you can study all this in college and at university?
The world of culture is a fascinating place. The Marianopolis Arts, Literature and Communication (ALC) program gives you the most room to explore it.
Join us and discover everything from Digital Art and Religious Studies, to Philosophy, Filmmaking and Music Technology. Learn or improve your Italian, Spanish, German or French.
Create your own journey through this enriching combination of creativity and analysis!
As Marianopolis ALC students, you and your classmates make up a small and friendly community. Together, you explore culture, apply theoretical and creative ideas and learn to analyze and critique the various forms of arts, literature and communication.
Our teachers are eager to support you on your explorations and to share with you their expertise. Many are artists and published authors in their own right.
To help you develop the knowledge and skills to plan your own projects, you will be guided by our four course categories of Exploration, Critique, Technique and Creation. In Exploration and Critique courses you can study Fine Arts, Modern Languages, History, Philosophy and Religion. In Technique and Creation courses you develop skills in Studio and Digital Art, Filmmaking, Theatre and Writing – as well as the ability to perform in your own production. At Marianopolis, as an ALC student, you can also opt to take Math as one of your electives.
You have many chances to visit galleries, discover Montreal architecture and go on a variety of field trips both in and outside Montreal.
During your final year, you will have the opportunity to present a final project to the public during ArtsFest, the College’s multidisciplinary interactive two-week festival which takes place throughout campus each spring.
When it is time to apply to university, your teachers help you to prepare your portfolios and auditions.
If you are a music performer and want to continue with your instrument, you can complete a Double DEC and study both Music and ALC. ALC and Music is a three-year, pre-university double-concentration program through which you earn two CEGEP diplomas, one in Music and one in ALC. We designed our Double DECs for students who want to pursue their music studies but wish to broaden their knowledge and experience in another field.
Last but certainly not least, 90% of Marianopolis ALC graduates are admitted to their first-choice university program.
