Honours Commerce Event: A Discussion with Nadine Renaud-Tinker, RBC Royal Bank

Sam TrudeauEvents, Honours

Last week, Social Science students in the Marianopolis Honours Commerce concentration hosted the President of RBC Royal Bank Quebec Headquarters Nadine Renaud-Tinker for an interactive discussion on what drives success in the world of business.

Ms. Renaud-Tinker answered questions from some of the 130 students who jammed the student lounge during activity period to hear her speak.  The event was moderated by Marianopolis Business Administration professor Bruno Delorme and first-year Commerce student Kayla Benamron.

Students in the Honours Distinction have the chance to engage with their program through enriching activities, including special guest lectures, site visits, group seminars and interactive events with leading figures in their field.

As president of RBC Royal Bank Quebec Headquarters, Ms. Renaud-Tinker is responsible for overseeing the bank’s strategic objectives and business priorities throughout the province. She has held several different roles since first starting at RBC in 1998, including Branch Manager, Financial Planner, Commercial Account Manager and Vice President of Commercial Financial Services.

In her talk, Ms. Renaud-Tinker shared her views on what it takes to be a leader and to build teams and on the approaches she takes in those areas. She emphasized that true leadership was not about asserting authority but rather communicating a vision, being open to feedback and remaining accountable.

Reflecting on the lessons from her own career, she also encouraged students to embrace experiences that push them out of our comfort zone and to dedicate time to explore different options, whether they be education or career opportunities.

Marianopolis College would like to thank Ms. Renaud-Tinker for sharing her invaluable experience as a leading Canadian executive with our Honours Commerce students.
